The Legend
Maharana Amar Singh I was the 14th Maharana of Mewar and the eldest son of Maharana Pratap. He succeeded his father in 1597 and valiantly continued the long-standing struggle against the Mughal Empire. He successfully defended Mewar against several Mughal expeditions led by Jahangir. Eventually, recognizing the devastation caused by decades of war and to secure a future for his people, he entered into a peace treaty with the Mughals in 1615 on honorable terms that ensured the Maharana of Mewar would never have to personally attend the Mughal court.
