The Essence
The Rajputi Poshak is the traditional attire of Rajput women, distinct from a regular saree or lehenga. It is a four-piece ensemble: Kanchli (inner blouse), Kurti (outer sleeveless vest), Ghagra (long pleated skirt), and Odhni (long veil). It is known for its vibrant colors and intricate embroidery styles like Gota Patti, Zardosi, and Kundan work.
Origins & History
The attire evolved to suit the desert climate and the modesty required in royal courts. The use of bright colors was a way to counter the barren desert landscape. The intricate work showcased the wealth and status of the wearer's family.
