Origins & Legacy
The Kachwahas of Amber and Jaipur claimed descent from Kush, the son of Lord Rama. They were pioneers in town planning, diplomacy, and astronomy.
Consolidation of Dhundhar
The clan captured the Amber fort from the Meenas in the 11th century. For centuries, they ruled from the rugged hills of Amber before moving to the plains.
The Mughal Alliance
Raja Bharmal was the first Rajput ruler to marry his daughter to Akbar, initiating an era of strategic alliance. Raja Man Singh I became the commander-in-chief of the Mughal army.
The Pink City
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II founded Jaipur in 1727, applying Vedic Vastu Shastra to create India's first planned city, and established the Jantar Mantar observatories.
